Slow time
Its Andres' first day of summer vacation and we are in the hospital waiting for his blood extraction for some test. He has been under the weather since Friday with bouts of fever and coughing in the afternoon. He is feeling real sick unless playing the PSP or Wii or the computer with his brothers and cousins.
We picked him up on his last school day and went out walking under the cool weather of our favorite mall in Manila. It must be the cool weather that did him in. Or that cold infinity pool when we got that free overnight stay in some hotel two weekends ago.
Its Andres' first day of summer vacation and he was asking why time moves so slow. It must be his activity sitting, waiting inside the hospital for his turn. Hospitals might be a time stopper of some sort, prolonging life by slowing time.

Kicked Out
Still reeling from some viral infection I acquired from Paco requiring me to stay at home for five freaking days, I went out of my way to meet with the boss where I teach and learned that my fucking contract will not be renewed next year and that, in elementary my boy, is automatically kicking me out of my work in two months time for some shitty reason I cannot comprehend or even accept in my scheme of things.
Going home feeling numb, uncertainty gnawing my mind, I called up Thelma and told her the good news of me becoming a full time houseband for the children. After reality settled in, I tried acting normal but the world just aint normal for now. Then I saw Paco sleeping peacefully and I lay down beside him. Then tried finishing the book New York Rocker of Gary Valentine (guitarist of Blondie) when Paco, already awake, jumped on me. My mind aching, then my body aching. What a day. This too shall pass.
